Lab Rat is a mod created by a talented team of artists who are completely dedicated to seeing it through. We love the universe of Portal and we aim to create a strong addition to that universe. The game is a more serious look at the events that shaped the world of portal. It's a different, more somber, perspective on the story that we have fallen in love with. We hope that this mod will be more than a map pack to our audience and that, when it's released, they will see the time, work, and love that we have been putting into building it.

Hello everyone. This is Max speaking. Though my name might not be familiar to you yet, I have already been working on this mod for about a year now.
Well, I'm not the only one. In the last year this mod has turned around from a place that was losing steam, to a new vision for what it should be, and a renewed enthusiasm for us to get it there. That change is a direct result of the passion of the team we have right now.
One of the biggest efforts we have made is reconsidering what we want the game to be. There are plenty of map packs out there, many of them are quite good, but that isn't what we wanted for this mod. We have a great love for Portal, and a huge respect for it's creators. We want to enter the world they made and make something that's more than just a project, more than just some levels that connect together. With that in mind, we have been re-visiting our story and finished levels to give them a new context with a more intentional style and feel.
We are still working away at it and we have a lot to do, but we will try to keep you more informed as we continue. We hope you are as excited as we are for what's to come.

Hey, as I understand the mod is dead. Can I somehow contact you and use your developments in another project?
Honestly, I'm glad this one stopped development. I feel like Portal 2: Lab Rat works better as a comic, or quite possibly a short film.
